Making A Difference in Memphis

The Ladies of Charity Memphis is a dedicated organization with a mission to support local charities and uplift those less fortunate in our community. For over 80 years, we have been a compassionate presence in Memphis, serving the poor and those in need through financial contributions and hands-on assistance.

Our largest fundraiser, the annual Ladies of Charity Fashion Show & Tea, is held at Christian Brothers High School and plays a crucial role in supporting our initiatives. The funds raised benefit a variety of impactful organizations, including Catholic Charities, Birthright, Church Health Center, The Poor Clares, St. Vincent Soup Kitchen, Veterans Hospital, and the Dorothy Day House.

The Story Behind Our Mission

The Ladies of Charity is part of a national organization that began in 1617, founded by St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Marillac in France. His vision was to create a group of compassionate women dedicated to serving the sick, poor, and marginalized in their communities. Over the centuries, the mission of the Ladies of Charity has grown, spreading across the globe while staying true to St. Vincent’s guiding principles of humility, simplicity, and charity.

In the United States, the Ladies of Charity National Association continues this legacy, supporting local chapters like ours in Memphis. Together, we work to fulfill the mission of serving those in need with dignity and compassion, making a meaningful impact in our communities.
